Pubcast 187 – John’s Choice: Unlocking the Legend

TJ Hagen from Urban Legend Brewing in Westmont, has provided John’s Tavern with a cavalcade of brew samples, and John has called in the Brit and Yankee Pubcast to help him taste and select his next in-house beers. A great opportunity for us to run through some of the offerings from this suburban brewery, and find out some of the stories behind the beer names. Find out which ones we’d like to see on draft and in a bomber!

2. The King’s Tree – Coffee Stout – ABV – 8.8%, IBU – 41.1
3. Udderly Utopia, Milk Stout – ABV 5.2%
4. Step On It Klaus! – German Weizenbock – ABV – 8%

Pubcast 170 – ‘Twas The Show Before Christmas

Sketchbook Brewing beers feature in this seasonal show; Juniper Orchard, plus an unreleased early bottle of Lapwing Strong Scotch Ale aged in FEW gin barrels.
Mark’s other half, Tina Naski, brings us a sample of her latest home brew, a sessionable 80 Shilling Scotch Ale.
We finish up with Bell‘s Bourbon Cherry Stout, and a sharing of a magnum of Anchor Steam 2015 Christmas Ale…this is the 41st year of production for this seasonal favorite.
We get music from band As 40 Sleeps, and to end our final show of the year, our traditional presentation of The Night Before Christmas. Happy Holidays and Cheers!

Pubcast 160 – Cademon Brewing Co.

The pubcast begins with a visit to Noon Whistle‘s Oktoberfest celebrations, but then we travel out West and visit with brewer/owner of Cademon Brewing, Andrew Nordman.
Situated in Genoa, IL, the brewery is located in a turn of the century building on Main Street (Rt. 72).

We try their beers and their craft sodas and chat with Andrew about his background and philosophy, and his involvement with brewing system, Brewbot.

Weaved into our visit is our Style of the Week, Stout, and Brewmaster Mark gives us his views and some notes on this style.

It’s a bumper edition, so grab your favorite brew and settle in, or if you are driving and listening, just hold off on the brew till you get home!
